The Bounty

Life bestowed me with an infelicitous gift,
Which caused everything to shift!
Didn’t come neat, didn’t come tidy,
Was as shabby, as shabby could be!
Touched my life, rampant and raging!

Was like a jack in the box, but cruel and gut-wrenching!

Life bestowed me with an infelicitous gift,
That billowed in my hands so swift!
As it slithered through my body,
And made my living shoddy!
Delving in arithmetic and statistics,
Dividing, multiplying and other analytics!
It pillaged as it grew,

And I was maimed as I tried to get it to spew!

Life bestowed me with an infelicitous gift,
And the bounty came as a thrift!
I found patience that I didn’t know I had,
And courage to brave the feelings that drew me mad!
I treasured the love for my family,
And found family in friends, who loved unconditionally;
Always present, always giving, always reinstating,
Giving me laughter and memories, and never forsaking!
I was given a strong shoulder to lean on,
Even if the distance was equally strong!
I unearthed in me, trust and faith,

Like still boats waiting at the staith.

Life bestowed me with an infelicitous gift,
But the bounty came as a lift.
A lift that gave me prayers from everyone known
And endurance to face the unknown.
I bid adieu to my vainglory

And learnt to come to terms with my flawed body!

Life bestowed me with an infelicitous gift,
But the bounty came as a destroyer of rifts.
I learnt to appreciate galore,
Things that were ignored before.
I learnt to cherish and rejoice,

And stopped rebelling against things that weren’t my choice.

Life bestowed me with cancer.
And the bounty came as a life enhancer!

  1. Cleverly written while posing to us all a very meaningful message… I enjoyed dwelling on this one a while…
but then… my words seem a bit infelicitous…
    A beautiful evening to you…
